How does herblore habitat work

Pungent vines make supercompost when put into the compost bin. Vine herbs make regular compost. Compost is very important to successful farming because it affects growth, disease, and harvest similar to regular farming. It is recommended to use supercompost whenever possible.

The vine blossom patch is the most basic patch for attracting jadinkos. Only blossom seeds can be planted in this patch. Blossom seeds are easy to obtain because they are the only seeds that can be purchased from Papa Mamba. Players can buy all three blossom seed colours from Papa Mambo's Shop for 50gp each. The vine blossom patch cannot be protected by the zombie farmer.

There are two vine herb patches at Herblore Habitat. One is located in the middle area, while the other can be found in the east area. Only vine herbs may be grown here. The herb seeds can be obtained from hunting the jadinkos. Only the vine herb patch in the middle area can be protected by paying the zombie farmer. Since vine herb seeds are so rare it is worthwhile to pay to have them watched. Unless the player finds they are getting more seeds than they can grow, use the patch in the east area only if it is absolutely necessary or if the player intends to remain close by to keep an eye on them.

The witchdoctor mask is a useful teleport to return to the middle area herb vine patch from the second herb vine patch in the east area.

Vine bushes are required to attract some jadinkos. The berries harvested from vine bushes can be used as payment to the Zombie farmer to protect the more valuable vine herbs samaden 5 kalferberries and shengo 5 lergberries. The Fruit tree patch can grow any type of fruit tree, but only apple, banana, and orange trees will attract jadinkos. Players may only receive apple, banana and orange seeds from the jadinkos. Players who do not play Herblore Habitat can still use this patch for regular farming.

The zombie farmer can protect three patches in return for payment. He can protect the vine herb patch, the vine bush patch, and the fruit tree patch. He can be paid in noted items. Jadinkos are creatures that can be hunted in the Herblore Habitat. Ten types of jadinkos are caught using box trapping with a marasamaw plant and an optional withered vine or pungent vine as bait. The other three jadinko types are tracked and caught with the noose wand on the tool belt. Each jadinko requires certain environmental conditions in order to be attracted to the hunter areas.

Three of the jadinkos caught with a marasamaw plant are named after the three main gods and their preferences change every week and are different for every player. The other ten jadinkos have the same environmental preferences each week. Astlayrix , who is found in the middle area, can give the player more information about catching jadinkos and keeps track of jadinko preferences for the player.

Each type of jadinko requires a different combination of plants to attract them in the Herblore Habitat farming patches. Catching at least one of all 10 jadinkos weekly provides experience rewards and a chance to obtain a piece of the Witchdoctor camouflage gear.

The Rewards section of this page has more detailed information. The following table outlines the combinations that each jadinko is attracted to. If the Jadinko has a certain preference, the blossom, environmental feature, juju hunter potion , bush, or fruit tree type will be listed, otherwise any type of seed can be used.

Plants don't need to be fully grown to take effect. A "one seed efficient" method to unlock and catch all 10 Jadinkos would be to follow these steps:. While using the juju hunter potion is not required to attract all 10 jadinko types, if it is applied then the chance of attracting god jadinkos hints will increase, as they can only be attracted with treated blossom flowers.

As the juju hunter potion lasts 10 minutes and the effects do not vanish if the players digs up the blossoms to replace them with a different blossom seed colour it is possible to catch all the jadinkos with just the one dose, presuming the player only catches one or two of each type. This entire cycle uses one of each blossom seed colour type, one of each bush seed type, and one of each fruit tree sapling type - the only repeated item is to rebuild a pond. There are 3 god jadinkos, Saradomin, Zamorak, and Guthix.

Their preferences change weekly and are different for each player. If the player has 2 or 3 out of the 4 requirements for a particular god jadinko and has a juju hunter potion in effect, the player may get a 'hint' message in their chat box, alerting the player that x number of the god jadinko preferences have been met.

In addition, a matching god jadinko will make a short appearance next to the player inside of the middle area when a hint is received.

Cycling through the environmental features is the easiest way to get hint messages shown in 'All Chat'. As each god jadinko has a unique blossom each week, the addition of the correct environmental feature will secure two out of four requirements almost guaranteeing a hint. If all the player's god jadinko requirements are two and three off, the player has the wrong fruit tree.

Another strategy is to locate the required fruit tree before the bush, because every week the fruit tree is the same for all three god jadinkos. This saves the extra work of changing the fruit tree multiple times, and only changing the environmental feature patch, vine blossom patch, and vine bush patch. The following jadinkos can be caught by tracking, which requires a noose wand. Vines are drops from trapping or tracking jadinkos in Herblore Habitat.

The vines are used in various ways including secondary ingredients in juju potions, creating compost, and warding off a selected type of jadinko from Herblore Habitat for a period of time. Construction plays a role in Herblore Habitat. The construction skill is used in building environmental features that are necessary for attracting jadinkos with certain preferences.

There is no construction experience gained for building environmental features; it uses no materials and does not require a saw or hammer. It is possible to boost up to 3 Construction levels by drinking a cup of tea made in a player owned house and then quickly teleporting to the Herblore Habitat area with a juju teleport spiritbag or the witchdoctor mask. Cups of tea from the Ye Olde Tea Shoppe a tea stall in southeast Varrock or from a tea flask or a heated tea flask do not boost construction.

Players can also request assistance from other players in order to meet the required levels. Neither player will receive experience because the action doesn't grant experience , but this allows players to build the environmental feature for free.

If the player does not have the Construction levels required to build the environmental features, talk to Papa Mambo and select the 'Build' option. The player will need to do this each time they change the environmental feature without the required Construction level. It can cost up to 80, coins to build a single environmental feature. Potions can be made out of the many items collected while hunting and farming.

Each has a unique ability. Abandoned House - Level Thermal Vent - Level Tall Grass - Level Pond - Level Standing Stones - Level Dark Pit - Level Vine Herbs are not used for attracting Jadinkos, but are used in Juju Potions.

These will be explained later. Vine Herbs work like regular Herb patches and are affected by Juju Farming potions.

Jadinkos are caught using the Hunter skill, and can yield very satisfying XP rates. Draconic Jadinkos are often hunted up to level 99, and even further. They are caught in Marasamaw Traps, which are basically re-skinned box traps and can be purchased from Papa Mambo for a very cheap price.

The trap will close like a flytrap around the Jadinko if it is a successful catch, or the Jadinko will slither out and the trap will wilt if not.

Common Jadinko - Level These Jadinkos give XP. Igneous Jadinko - Level Cannibal Jadinko - Level Aquatic Jadinko - Level Amphibious Jadinko - Level Carrion Jadinko - Level Draconic Jadinko - Level If you somehow don't have one, Papa Mambo will sell you one. Shadow Jadinko - Level Diseased Jadinko - Level Camouflaged Jadinko - Level This is commonly used for warding off Common Jadinkos while hunting Draconics, as they steal your traps and give less XP. If you capture all of the above Jadinkos at least once within the same week, you can claim an small XP reward in either Hunter, Farming or Herblore from Papa Mambo, and he will also reward you either the Witchdoctor Robe or Legs.

Be warned, he can give you doubles, so It may take more than 2 weeks to get both pieces. The Witchdoctor gear acts like camouflage in Herblore Habitat, so whenever you are hunting there, wear it. Juju potions are the main reward you earn out of Herblore Habitat, as they are the only rewards that have a use outside the Habitat. Each will give a certain boost to a particular stat - however, none of them are combat related.

Although some potions do have abilities which can aid your combat later on. Juju potions are made in special vials which can be purchased from Papa Mambo. Each requires a certain Herblore level to make. Requires 1 clean Erzille, and 1 Corrupt Vine. This potion is necessary to attract certain Jadinkos. It is not consumed by the player - it is tipped on the Vine Blossom patch instead. Requires 1 clean Argway, and 1 Shadow Vine. This potion will mask your scent and increase your chances of successful trap catches for a period of time.

Requires 1 clean Ugune, and 1 Marble Vine. This works on normal and Vine herbs. Requires 1 clean Shengo, and 1 Plant Teeth. This potion is used to make a high-healing food called Juju Gumbo.

Requires 1 clean Shengo, and 1 Aquatic Vine. Requires 1 clean Samaden, and 1 Oily Vine. Requires 1 clean Samaden, and 1 Draconic Vine. Juju Gumbo is a high-healing food which you can make with the Juju Cooking potion. When first eaten, it will heal lifepoints, and then continue to heal you 50 lifepoints per second for 10 more seconds, totalling lifepoints per inventory slot.

To make Juju Gumbo:. Baron Sharks are a high-healing food which you can fish up using Juju Fishing potions. They can be cooked with level 80 Cooking. When consumed, they will heal lifepoints, and then continue to heal you 50 lifepoints per second for 10 more seconds, totalling lifepoints per inventory slot.

If you wear a Shark's tooth necklace, a reward from the Fishing Trawler, this effect will last 5 seconds longer, totalling lifepoints per inventory slot, which turns out to be the highest ingame. These Jadinkos are very special, in that the combination required to attract them changes every week, and you must find it out for yourself, as it is random for every player. You will receive hints in your chatbar as you discover more correct plants needed to attract the god Jadinkos.

Even if you have the correct combination, without a potion they will not spawn, and you may not even get hints. A good strategy is to plant a Fruit tree, a Bush. If you do not get a hint, change the Vine Blossom and start cycling through the Habitats again. If not, try again with the third colour of Blossom. If you still haven't got one, change the bush, and then try again with all 3 Blossoms.

Basically, you're using this as a farm spot that doesn't require anything to be planted. It's a pretty big deal. The reason that construction helps you is because Papa Mambo has made a fairly good business out of the landscapes, and charges you gp to make landscapes FOR YOU if you haven't got the construction level for it.

The centerpieces and costs are Boneyard - Level 56 - 56,gp if you don't have level 56 Abandoned House - Level 57 - 57,gp if you don't have level 57 Thermal Vent - Level 59 - 59,gp if you don't have level 59 Tall Grass - Level 62 - 62,gp if you don't have level 62 Pond - Level 65 - 65,gp if you don't have level 65 Standing Stones - Level 70 - 70,gp if you don't have level 70 Dark Pit - Level 80 - 80,gp if you don't have level 80 All introduction aside, if you're following me at this point then you shouldn't have any trouble with the rest.

It's really just "read from the chart, adjust crops accordingly, do some hunter. With this chart, it's pretty much just a matter of "find which Jadinko you wish to hunt, plant the correct seeds, hunt, hooray". The one catch, though, lies in the "Hunter juju? The juju hunter potion basically acts as "special bait" to lure the "rare" jadinkos. If the chart indicates that you need it, you need to plant an erzille in the nearest herb patch, hunt a diseased jadinko for a corrupt vine, and make a hunter juju potion.

Pour the resulting potion on the flower that the chart indicates, and then that'll lure them if you did it properly. Each hunter juju potion lasts roughly minutes. Which to hunt? If you want to make a ton of mining potions, you can just do a ton of draconics after the aforementioned preparation while planting all the Samaden you get, combine them, love yourself for getting the potions.

That being said, I'll explain what the spine of each jadinko is good for. You get one vine for every single jadinko that you successfully kill, and with 10 normal types, there's quite a lot to know. The vines I suggest you keep will be green, and the ones I suggest you dump will be red. Pretty simple. If it's orange, it's up to you. Common vines : These are pretty worthless for most people.

The only thing they're used for is baiting other traps, I suggest you hold onto them for if you feel like doing god jadinkos. Shadow vines : These are excellent. These make scentless potions, which increase your hunt catch rate for 5 minutes per dose. Marble vines : Also excellent. These are the secondary for farming potions, which are great for all farming ever. Plant teeth : Pretty good. These are the secondary for cooking potions.

They're not too practical, but if you're into high healing food, these are for you. Aquatic vines : Still pretty good. These make up the second half of fishing potions, which give you the ability to catch baron shark. Oily vines : Very good, under the right circumstances. These are the secondary for woodcutting potions. If you do ivy for woodcutting, don't bother.

Pungent vines : Awful. These are literally used for nothing at the moment. Only hold onto them if you're a collector. Corrupt vines : These are the used for making the aforementioned hunter juju potion. You definitely want these. Striped vines : Used for "warding off" a specific type of Jadinko. I'll go into this more later. Draconic vines : Excellent. Borderline best. These are the secondary for mining potions, which makes concentrated gold even easier.

Now that you know how to catch them, how to lure them, why you want them and which ones you want, I'll show you an example, just to pound it into your head a bit more. I want some mining juju potions. I've followed the guide up to the point of finishing commons, have some seeds, and now don't know what to do. I'd refer to the chart and see what draconics require, first of all. The first thing to notice is that they require a hunter juju potion.

To make a hunter juju potion, I know that I need an erzille herb and one corrupt vine. First, I plant my erzille seed that I got from hunting commons, and then look up diseased Jadinko on the chart. I go and plant the requirements to lure diseased, and then hunt them while my herbs grow. Once my erzille has grown, I can harvest it, throw the herbs into a juju vial, mix in the corrupt vine and have hunter juju potions.
