The new friends quickly became the part of Xero; soon, the band was renamed into Hybrid Theory. By , all the members of the would-be Linkin Park gathered together.
Producers and music companies were reluctant to collaborate with Hybrid Theory, and the artists organized their own promotion. As Bourdon remembered, the young men took boxes from the nearest post office and stuffed his apartment with packages.
Finally, the group took the attention of Warner Bros. Shinoda mentioned he got addicted to writing music in his childhood when his work won a contest. Mike realized he wanted to devote his life to music after he saw the performance of DJ Killer B along with the iconic metal group Anthrax and the African hip-hop group Public Enemy. Mike was a vocalist until Chester Bennington joined the band; he also invited his friends.
The singer left the group as he believed it was not going to succeed. The disc was a triumph; its financial success and popularity among listeners were incredible. Mike Shinoda started his career as a graphic designer, but he soon became engaged with the music world and gifted us with the amazing band, Linkin Park.

Mike Shinoda is painting differently these days. In the months since the death of his foil in Linkin Park , singer Chester Bennington , the rapper, producer and visual artist has found himself approaching all of his creative pursuits differently.
One recent painting shows what could be a variety of robot faces and skulls blending into a background of sea-foam—green squares.
Mostly, though, he looks small — like the big, bright room could eat him up. Although Post-Traumatic is not wholly about Bennington — and Shinoda bristles at the thought of it being looked at as a tribute album — much of it is about his struggle to understand himself without having Bennington in his life. Can I put the past behind me?

And then they took off and Chester and I just kind of hung out there for a couple hours, just doodling around on some music.

A few days later, Bennington was found dead in his L. Shinoda remembers Bennington as a complex individual with an outsized and sometimes unpredictable personality. He also provides artwork, production and mixing for both groups. Shinoda's band brought in second vocalist Chester Bennington , replacing Mark Wakefield.
From the onset, Shinoda was closely involved in the technical aspects of the band's recordings, and over the subsequent releases that role continued to expand. Shinoda, with guitarist Brad Delson , engineered and produced the band's Hybrid Theory EP, and performed similar roles in the recording of the Hybrid Theory album.
Mike executively organized and oversaw the band's remix album Reanimation , contributing his own production remixes that he made in his home studio for "Crawling" and "Pushing Me Away. He personally did all the mixing, synthesizing, and programming, as well as putting in his own emotional sentiments on his life and relationships with his friends and family. Some praised the album for it's fresh take on the hip-hop style, while others criticized the Shinoda's voice work and mixing that appeared on the album.
