What is the difference between recharge and top up

Most of the people prefer prepaid connections as they can keep a track of the amount they are spending on mobile and put a limit on it accordingly. On the other hand, in a post paid connection the person sometimes land up spending more money on bills as compared to what he intended to spend on mobile bills. Validity of the connection defines the active mode of a mobile connection or we can say that a person is able to use the services of mobile phones like making a call, sending an sms, within the time interval specified by the validity period.

This validity is defined by the connection providers; it can range from few days to number of years, depending upon the service provider. Now, if the validity gets expired and you need to make phone calls, then in that case, you have to recharge the mobile account.

Recharge would increase the validity period and gets the specified amount in the account. This recharge can be obtained by buying a coupon. In case, the validity has not expired then you might not recharge it, you can just top-up the amount, means it will not affect the validity, it will just increase the balance and you have to use the balance within the validity period, otherwise it may lapse.

Then what is the main balance? Why one should have two types of balances? In plans of other providers this confusion is not there. With 2G or 3G internet nothing worthwhile can be done.

Then why do they offer data? I use another provider for internet. It is really confusing. So many abbreviations all confusing. When we recharge, sometimes it is data through which we can talk and browse. Sometimes it is extention of validiity where we get no talk time data or real talk time. Recharge vs Top Up. Recharge and top up are two phrases that are frequently heard these days. These are ways to replenish a prepaid mobile account. All over the world, an overwhelming majority of connections in mobile telephony are prepaid and this may be due to the fact that people like to be aware of their expenditure in a given period of time.

Those who have prepaid accounts need to either top up or recharge their prepaid mobile accounts once they have exhausted all money in their account and need to make a call. There are people who think that recharge and top up are same things, and even use them interchangeably.

Though, this might be true today, the situation was different not too long ago when top up and recharge were two different concepts. Let us take a closer look.
